MANIFESTO

From art to spirituality, psychology to design, no realm is closed to exploration. In design, there is freedom in fluidity.

BRAND

& culture.

Founded in 2016, the London-based design studio, Tatjana von Stein (formerly Sella Concept), is best known for creating intuitive interiors for their clients. Projects range from high end residential to restaurants, members clubs and hotels, working across multiple locations including London, New York, Paris, Zurich and Mallorca.

Founder & Creative Director, Tatjana von Stein, has a shared French/German heritage, and brings a unique approach to her designs, considering the psychology of space and the impact of the design on those experiencing it. The studio’s spaces imbue movement and warmth and reference design history with a contemporary twist. Whilst Tatjana’s approach to each project is versatile, a subtle nod to the past is the common thread throughout her designs.

In 2023, Tatjana von Stein founded her eponymous brand and first furniture collection: Mise en Scène. Drawing from a spectrum of influences, the eight-piece collection is born of von Stein’s intuitive process and is produced in collaboration with some of France’s finest artisans.

“Our favourite projects are those that allow us to answer one question; how can we transport an audience? The design concept begins by developing an understanding of how people will use the overall space, incorporating visual shifts and atmospheric transitions to accommodate changing behaviours within the venue.” Our defining use of colour and juxtaposition of materials and textures create spaces with soul. A piece of the past. A step into the future.

The team comprises experienced interior architects and product designers and is resolutely international in its outlook, whilst considering the local in its execution. Projects are designed with the client in mind, whilst the studio takes care to activate the local community, often designing all the furniture and interiors and working with local artists and artisans on their making.”

Tatjana von Stein Mobilier

Tatjana von Stein brings passion and curiosity to the world of luxury furniture design. By drawing from a spectrum of influences, each collection forge new connections and opens space for conversation.

Launched in 2023, the first collection, Mise en Scène, explores the art of dance – that space between precision and expression, movement and stillness, the body and the space it inhabits.

Creativity, excellence, and design integrity are always at the front of mind. Each item of furniture is born of Tatjana's intuitive process and produced by highly skilled artisans in France. The ambition is that these pieces will become future classics; heirlooms that will last a lifetime and more. Each item is made-to-order, numbered, signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. A symbol of commitment to quality and individuality.

Tatjana’s French-German heritage – that synergy of creativity and precision, art and engineering – is at the core of each of her furniture creations; at once meticulous and free.

POSITIVE IMPACT

A continuing journey.

01.

ARTISANS

We strive to be thoughtful when sourcing our materials, opting for the most responsible options wherever possible. Considerations include supply chain and renewability — things that help us minimise our impact on the natural world. As part of our journey to positive impact, we are continually exploring all of our options.

02.

MATERIALS

In our ongoing commitment to positive change within the design industry, we have a dedicated partnership with the Royal Society of Arts. Through the RSA network we are able to contribute to the development of emerging designers working to find solutions to the social and environmental issues we face today.

03.

SUPPORTING THE ARTS

Impact is a journey, and transparency is key. We know there are areas where we can do better, and we'll always strive to do so. In the meantime, we will continue to be open and honest about the impact we're having, paying close attention to our carbon footprint and exploring all the options to help us improve.

04.

HONESTY

Collaboration has been key in helping us sustain our values of quality, transparency, and craft excellence. We have partnered with Aurige, the French heritage conservation group who, with over 75 years' experience, have brought together a collective of specialist artisans dedicated to upholding design integrity and creating products that are made to last.
